Lyman Hall senior Lindsay Karle will play basketball at Albertus Magnus next season.

The 5-foot-5 sharpshooter averaged 15 points and netted 56 3-pointers this past season for the Trojans.

An update from an earlier report about Lyman Hall's Jen Ruys' ankle injury...

Trojans coach Tom Lipka says it's a bad sprain and she will miss the SCC tournament. Lyman Hall, the No. 5 seed, hosts No. 12 Foran Thursday night at 6:30. Lipka hopes she can return for the Class L state tournament. Ruys is averaging 12.3 points per game for Lyman Hall.

The injury issues continue for Lyman Hall.

After missing time earlier in the year with a back injury, Trojans senior Jen Ruys went down with an ankle injury during the second quarter in Monday's win over Sacred Heart Academy.

It looks Ruys won't play in Thursday's SCC tournament opener against Foran, according to coach Tom Lipka. Ruys is averaging 12.3 points per game for Lyman Hall.

With a 51-41 win tonight over Sheehan, Lyman Hall clinches a share of the SCC Housatonic Division title with the Titans.

Sheehan wasn’t able to recover from a 15-point deficit at halftime. Felicia Ferraro had 14 points and Lindsay Karle added 13 points for Lyman Hall. Bre Butler had six points, 11 rebounds and five assists for Sheehan.

It’s Lyman Hall’s second division title in three years and Sheehan’s first since 2005.

Lyman Hall at Career, 7 p.m.: Behind 31 points from Lindsay Karle, the Trojans handed the Panthers a surprising loss earlier this year. But Lyman Hall will be without Karle for this game because of a shin injury. They will have senior Jen Ruys back though.

Mercy at Branford, 7 p.m.: The Hornets dropped their season opener to the Tigers. Sadie Edwards and Amber Bepko torched Branford for a combined 50 points in that meeting. If the Hornets can slow that potent duo, the outcome may be different this time.

The Trojans hope to be back at full strength in time for Friday's showdown with cross-town rival Sheehan.

Lindsay Karle (13.4 ppg) will miss tonight's game, but coach Tom Lipka is optimistic she will play Friday against the Titans. Due to a severe shin bruise, Karle missed two of the last three games for the Titans.

Lyman Hall’s Lindsay Karle, Brittany Mappa and Jen Ruys will all miss Friday’s game against Cheshire because of injuries, according to Trojans coach Tom Lipka.

All were injured in Tuesday’s win over Shelton.

Karle (severe shin bruise) and Mappa (knee injury) both may be back for Tuesday’s game against Wilbur Cross. Ruys (stress fracture in back) is out indefinitely.

Of the 49 points per game Lyman Hall is averaging this season, 31.1 of them went down with injury Tuesday night against Shelton.

Forward Jen Ruys (11.9 ppg), who has been battling a back injury played for a few minutes in the first quarter, but she went to the bench because of the injury and never returned.

Meanwhile, leading scorer Lindsay Karle (15 ppg) went to the bench with a leg injury and Brittany Mappa (4.2 ppg) left the game with a knee injury, the same knee that forced her to miss all of last season.

Trojans coach Tom Lipka said all are day-to-day for now and he was unsure if they would play Friday against Cheshire.

Lyman Hall still managed to beat Shelton 48-31. Felicia Ferraro had 15 points, 11 rebounds, nine steals and five assists to lead the Trojans.

Here are some intriguing matchups in the final week of 2009...

Portland at Coginchaug, Monday, 7:30 p.m.: Both teams are off to hot starts. It should be interesting to see which team remains undefeated. Will it be a Kelley Coleman-led Portland squad or the Blue Devils' balanced attack?

Kolbe Cathedral vs. Career, at Wilbur Cross, 5 p.m.: Two perennial powers square off. The Cougars have won four straight since dropping their season opener. The Panthers come in after a big win over Hillhouse.

Hillhouse at Wilbur Cross, 7 p.m.: This will be the first meeting between these city schools. It may be a down year for the Governors, but records have to be disregarded when these two teams face each other. This is the final game of Vanguard Classic tripleheader. Guilford plays Hamden at 3 p.m., followed by the Kolbe Cathedral-Career matchup.

Hand Holiday Tournament championship, at Hand, 7 p.m.: This will likely be Lyman Hall vs. Lauralton Hall. And if that's the case, it will be interesting to see how the Crusaders hand Lindsay Karle, who went off for 31 earlier this season in an upset win over Career.
